A Solo Traveler’s Guide to a Dubai Yacht Experience

A yacht trip in Dubai is a classic activity. For solo travelers, it can seem complex to arrange. This guide walks you through my personal experience, from the metro to the open water, to help you plan your trip.

I took a solo trip to Dubai and decided to see the city from its best angle: the sea. This is a direct account of that day, from a traveler’s point of view.

The Starting Point: Getting to Marina

My day began at the Gevora Hotel, the tallest hotel in the world. I took the Dubai Metro from the Financial Centre station near the hotel to the DMCC Metro Station, which serves the Dubai Marina.

The metro journey itself is a sightseeing tour. The train glides past a forest of skyscrapers, offering a unique perspective of the city's modern heart. It is a efficient and cost-effective way to reach the marina.

Boarding the Yacht in Dubai Marina

From DMCC station, it is a short walk to the dock behind Vida Residences. This is a common boarding point for many yacht tours. I had pre-booked a shared yacht tour, and 19 other guests were there.

The yacht was a 70-foot vessel, a substantial size that promised a stable and comfortable journey. We were greeted by a crew of three: the Captain, a Deckhand, and a Steward. Their professional and calm demeanor set a positive tone for the trip.

The Journey: Anchoring at JBR and Water Activities

We left the Dubai Marina channel, moving past some of the world's most luxurious private yachts and waterfront apartments. Our first stop was just off the shore of JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residences). Here, the yacht dropped anchor.

The crew prepared a fresh BBQ meal and served cool juices. With music setting a relaxed mood, guests started to dance on the deck. The rear of the yacht opened to a swimming platform, and many of us took the opportunity to jump in the water for a swim in the calm, cool sea.

The Sightseeing Cruise: Atlantis, Burj Al Arab, and The Palm

After swimming and eating, we embarked on the main sightseeing leg. The yacht cruised along the coast of the Palm Jumeirah. We had a direct, stunning view of the Atlantis The Palm hotel.

From there, we moved towards the iconic Burj Al Arab, sailing close enough to appreciate its unique sail-shaped design against the sky. Viewing these landmarks from the water offers a sense of scale and grandeur that you cannot get from the land.

The yacht then turned back, completing the loop and returning us to the dock behind Vida Residences in Dubai Marina.

Key Takeaways for Your Solo Yacht Trip in Dubai

  • Transport: The Dubai Metro to DMCC is a smart choice. It avoids traffic and parking hassles in the Marina.

  • The Yacht: A 70ft yacht is spacious for 20 guests. Look for this size for a comfortable experience.
